Cocteau was multi-talented and was an artist, filmmaker, poet, and designer. He was born in Maisons-Laffitte in 1889, and died in 1963.

Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast film from 1946 was a great influence upon many artists and filmmakers, including H.R. Giger.
