"I was remembering the feeling I have when I think about Rembrandt's 'The Nightwatch,' as I painted. I didn't want to reference it directly, so I did not look at it until my painting was finished. I carefully followed his chiaroscuro technique, by spotlighting images out of darkness.

Obviously, Rembrandt's 'The Nightwatch,' which you will see is quite different. Really different, but it inspired this little one somehow. Almost 400 years since he painted it and the work still resonates and influences myself and other painters of today.

This new painting is the antagonist side of ‘THE RESCUE’ where the robot is saving a teddy bear from the forces of darkness."
